For 46 years, Outdoor Pursuits (OP) has stood as the adventure hub of Fort Lewis College. Our enduring tagline, "Adventure is not in the Guidebook…Beauty is not on the Map," resonates as strongly with today's students as it did when the program first launched in 1977.
OP offers enriching outdoor and social experiences emphasizing environmental awareness, outdoor education, personal development, managed risk, a sense of community, and fun!
Your contribution to the Outdoor Pursuits – Greatest Needs plays a crucial role in ensuring that students can fully embrace the array of opportunities OP provides. This includes supporting Seek Your Adventure Grants, which enable students to dream big by embarking on their own local adventures and broaden access to all that OP offers for students facing financial constraints. - Day, Weekend, and Extended Trips: Immerse yourself in nature with our diverse range of trips catering to various durations.
- Local, Regional, and International Trip Programs: Explore nearby landscapes and regional gems, or venture globally with our thoughtfully curated trip options.
- Weekly Activities: Engage in regular activities such as Kayak Pool Sessions, Movie Nights, and more, fostering a sense of community and enjoyment.
- Extensive Outdoor Equipment Check-out: Access top-quality outdoor gear to enhance your outdoor experiences, from camping essentials to specialized equipment.
- Climbing Wall: Challenge yourself and build strength at our climbing wall, suitable for all skill levels.
- Student Outdoor Leadership (SOL) Program: Develop leadership skills and connect with nature through our specialized program designed for students.
OP Provides:
- Eligibility for Participation: Unlock the door to Outdoor Pursuits trips, activities, clinics, and workshops.
- FREE Use of OP Equipment: Enjoy complimentary access to our equipment and gear throughout the academic calendar year.
- Access to Ski & Bike Shop Facility and Tools: Explore winter and biking adventures with our specialized facilities and tools.
- Access to the Outdoor Adventure Resource Library: Enhance your knowledge and skills with a wealth of resources available in our comprehensive library.
- Student Memberships: All current FLC students automatically gain access to Outdoor Pursuits and its services by paying student fees. A valid Skycard is all you need for program access, ensuring you are registered for classes to enjoy the benefits.
